Writer's Block: Forbidden Reading

  • Oct. 20th, 2008 at 10:39 AM

From Judy Blume to V.C. Andrews, there's always a book circulating among teens that their parents don't want them to read. What favorite book did you have to hide from your parents?

I don't ever remember hiding any books from my parents.  My mom loved to read, and I loved to read, and was a voracious reader.  Or so I thought, until I met you!  You make me look like a small hobby reader!  But in high school, I do remember teachers talking about banned books, like Huck Finn because it's so racist.  Banned meaning some schools wouldn't allow their teachers to read and analyze certain books.  That bugged me.  I still love Huck Finn.  That's why I loved Farenheit 451, even though it bugged me that Ray Bradbury swore so much in the book.  But I liked the idea of these people fighting against the banning of books.
